Come join our team for the annual summer games: XVII Student Summer Games
Student Summer Games is probably the single most awesome sporting and social event you could participate in during your sunny summer holiday. It only costs 37€ to have a great time for three days. It takes place from 1.-3. of July in a beautiful place called Kääriku. Can you imagine having fun among 1600 other fellow college students in Estonia in a remote location like that? By now quite a handful of other EBS students know what it is like and would like to experience it again. However we still have room for more students to join us this year.
We are planning on going there with a big group of 30-40 students to represent EBS and enjoy ourselves during a weekend of no other responsibilities in sight. This will maximize our immersion to this great atmosphere of people, sports and beautiful weather. If lucky, we could also encounter a wet Spiderman ™ like we did last year just to give you another reason to come and join us.
The event itself boasts a sports program of 22 activities, entertainment program of 10 activities and a total of 5 sports training events which are all voluntary, however, participation is strongly encouraged to maximize the enjoyment factor. Just a heads up; the most serious of events attract people to really have fun competing and thus it does not matter if someone is fast or slow as long as it is what they enjoy doing. Throughout it all silly costumes are very welcome (we encourage you to bring yours!!) and will get the wearer plenty of publicity and in some select events extra points are awarded for doing so.
One of the main events for the Games is Women’s mud wrestling and this year it’s the 13th in line. As you may have guessed this falls entirely into the category of entertainment and that is what we will get. It is by now one of the main traditional events to look out for and it is guaranteed to please the participants and the spectators alike; it is actually held separate from any competing events as it takes place just before the party begins in the evening. To give a glimpse of what to expect here is a picture:
Another element to consider during the Games is the parties with live performances that follow long days out in the sun for the sleepless. The strongest and bravest have enough energy to be highly active during the day, carry on through the night and be back on track first thing in the morning to carry on with the responsibilities of representing their schools – that is dedication. The feeling with which they return might not be great, however, their heroism spawns great stories for future generations to come.
Another source of information to consider is the two following videos to give a better understanding of what to expect: a short video on Facebook or a longer video on Youtube.
