I started studying at EBS in autumn 2015. When my friends and acquaintances asked me after couple of months, how I like it here, I answered more than happily that very much. While asking me about details why was I so satisfied, my first and most legit reason was that EBS values its students who show the initiative to do something and gives them the opportunity to do that. I thought so last autumn and I still do.
As I have always been rather active, I am very appreciative of the environment that EBS has created for its students. According to your efforts your opportunities open up. And now I have the opportunity to lead Student Council. I have worked really hard for many months for that opportunity and I am truly happy when they passed the token at Senate from last board to us.
I intend to lead Student Council by the same principle I try to apply to my personal everyday life. My favourite principle of all – “The reward for the work well done is the opportunity to do more!” – is something I would like to see more in Student Council. I find that the time and energy students put to their work in Student Council must provide them an opportunity to learn and develop. I hope to see it in every next year member’s work and try to keep it in mind while making different decisions for Student Council. I find that the work there gives an extra value to the education one can receive in university.
I find that Student Council is an excellent place for taking responsibility. With every responsibility comes obligation and that is perfect practice for future references. I also find that taking part of Student Council is perfect way to see the bigger picture. Regarding students’ preferences, one can work with causes more than doing that as individual. I have encountered youngsters who have difficulties seeing the bigger picture in front of them and they usually steer away from possibilities to make a change in their community. Considering the fact that hopefully we all will be future entrepreneurs who will create sustainable and excellent enterprises for Estonia and its people, I find it is extremely important skill. Creating a better world around yourself and your close ones through working at NGO is not something to be ashamed of. It is something that young people should be proud to be a part of.
At the moment, our team is smaller than it was last year but I believe that it provides us the effectivity and easiness at doing our job. This year many students who haven’t been a member of Student Council before have shown interest to join us and this only brings a smile to my face. The more versatile is our team, the better and more importantly, the more interesting way we can do our job.
Student Council will welcome many big changes during summer. We will analyse very thoroughly the work done until this moment, over-see our strategic goals and give our best to create an interesting and versatile action plan for next semester in order to provide our students something worth expecting for in addition to EBS’ already brilliant education.
