What is Haba and where does the name come from?
The yearly Haba event is Estonian Business School’s way of recognizing it’s most outstanding workers, lecturers, students and alumni. This is our so-called Oscar gala. The name comes from the Estonian Business Schools founder Madis Habakuk.
For how long have EBS had this event?
The gala tradition began long ago, however, nobody really know how long this event have been carried. A few years passes without Haba which also makes it hard to say exactly how many times Haba actually has been held.

Why hasn’t it been held consistently? Is it difficult to organize it?
I am not sure why it has not been held consistently. Maybe it is because the organizing part is a big responsibility for some people. The gala is meant to be for the whole school, including the alumni. It is an event which the whole school is looking forward to.

Why did you agree to take such responsibility?
I am exprienced as project manager as well as working with a team

How is the organizing going? Are you ready for it or is there still a long way to go?
Everything is progressing good at the moment. There have been some big obstacles which have been taken care of and there are still some smaller but less important details to deal with.

How does the nominees submitting and voting system look like?
The first step, for the Haba team, is to make a questionnaire to ask people for their opinion on the best nominees. If one name is repeated at least three times then he or she will be included in the nominees list. Following that there is a public voting where everyone from EBS are encouraged to vote for their favourite. The voting was made public last week so everyone who has not voted yet, please submit your vote, even if you can not attend the event.

What is the dresscode of the event?
Black tie. Men in black suits and the women in formal dresses.
Why black?
Because black is festive and I am sure that every person has something black/formal in their wardrobe they will therefore not have to purchase a new outfit for the event.
Is it possible to come in any other attire, a different coloured suit or a dress?
Yes, of course. It is important to come dressed festively – as long as you are dressed formal.
How much is the ticket and where can you buy it?
The ticket is 15€ for students and 10€ for staff. You can buy the ticket from the Student Council room 208 in cash or by a bank transaction.
