When Victoria and Rico Went on an Adventure

  1. When was the trip?

As soon as we finished our exams on June 8th in EBS, we took our backpacks, jumped on a plane to Lisbon, and landed there with the biggest smiles on our faces. (8.06.2016-23.06.2016)

  1. Where did the trip take place exactly?

Actually, we covered quite a big part of Portugal with our trip.

We surfed the waves of Ericeira – which is one of the 8th World Surfing Reserves with its 8 km of coastline, therefore it is a surf paradise for all the surf lovers, both beginners and professionals.

We wandered the wonderful Sintra – a gorgeous and romantic fairy tale town that makes it a must sightseeing day trip from the capital.

We took selfies on the cliffs of most westerly point of mainland Europe – Cabo da Roca, which up until the late 14th century was believed to be the edge of the world.

We enjoyed the beautiful Cascais – a prosperous town that with its exceptional beauty, parks, yacht club and architecture, makes it in our eyes the Monte Carlo of Portugal. The lively and social atmosphere makes it such a charming place that you just want to stay there for more.

We relaxed in Costa da Caparica – around 20 kilometers south of Lisbon, lies on what’s known as the perfect getaway for lisboêtas because of its never-ending beach and close location.

and eventually we partied in Lisbon – a city that has so much to offer, never stops surprising you and is worth falling in love with. It has this vibe you are looking for in a city – lively locals, delicious food, rich culture, great shopping and awesome nightlife.

  1. What were the main activities?

Our main goal for this trip was to learn how to surf. We did it for 5 days but then one of broke a hand while doing it and we had to change the plan. So, we just went on with discovering this rich country spontaneously, which led us to making amazing new friends from all over the world and gaining crazy amount of energy and ideas after that. When we got back, our friends could definitely feel that Portugal had had its effect on us.

  1. What was the best part of the trip?

As much as we enjoyed all of those locations, the one place which we loved the most was Ericeira. We booked our rooms in Rapture camps, where we just had the best hospitality experience ever. After 7 days the place felt like home where we all learned and grew into this lovely friendship and it felt crazy to just leave after that to separate destinations.

  1. Why should others go on a similar trip?

Well, as we said, our initial goal was to learn how to surf and for that we believe that Ericeira is a perfect place for it. The feeling when you succeed at standing up on your board and let the waves carry you and at the same time your new friends yelling “You can do it! Good job!”, is just AWESOME! They should already go purely for that experience. Besides the surfing, it is a great way to find yourself and challenge the relationship with your cousin for example and broaden one’s horizons with the diverse culture Portugal has to offer.

  1. Would you go back there?

YASSS! Actually we have already agreed with the surf camp “crew” that we will do it again next year. So, feel free to join 😉

  1. What would be the approximate price of this trip and by whom was it organized?

Vic was the one who put together this whole trip, since she has a lot of traveling experience and knows very well how to travel affordably. So finally, we paid around +/- 1100.- per face(flights, accommodation, food, etc. all included) and booked everything on our own.
