Habits Of Highly Persistent People

You have probably experienced times in your life when you feel tiredness from going ahead and have lost your motivation to achieve your goals. In another separate article at EBSTER, you can find the reasons why you fail to accomplish your goals, but in this article we will be discussing some of the habits that determined people have in common that keeps them going after their goals and dreams when their motivation seems to be fading.

In most articles, which are about the success or the characteristic of successful people, persistence is considered as one of the most fundamental keys in success. In this regard, there is a very impressive sentence from Calvin Coolidge: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” which is indicative of the role of persistence in success.

It’s almost challenging not to continue when everything is going well and you are constantly improving. But what do you need to do or change when there is no evidence of moving closer towards your purposes? What are the strategies of highly persistent people? Next up are the ways you can remain persistent in your journey and not give up:

  • Clear Goals:

Having clear goals or visions in mind is one of the ways to keep people moving towards their goals. They know exactly what they want, they concentrate on their dreams and constantly fight to achieve them. It is also possible that sometimes you are following other’s dreams rather than yours, and it makes you disappointed after some time. Even when you are able to achieve the goal you feel dissatisfied because you have made someone else’s dreams come true instead of yours. Your dream is usually the first thing motivates you to wake up in the morning and the last thing you fantasize about before going to sleep.

  • Strong Self-Confidence And Self-Esteem

Persistent people love themselves and have an empowered feeling about themselves overall (Self-esteem), they believe in their abilities as well as capabilities (Self-confidence). When you love yourself, your self-esteem improves, which makes you more confident. Moving towards your goals can be a lonely process demanding strong self-esteem.

  • High Agility And Flexibility

The ability to modify and adapt their action plan when facing unpredictable events is one of the amazing talents of persistent people. Inability to accept adjustment hinders the ability to move forward. Sometimes the first step of taking action is acceptance. Eckhart Tolle, a spiritual teacher has said: “Accept, then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it.”

  • No Room for Excuses

Persistent people find a way to achieve their goals and if they can’t then there is always a chance to just build a new one. There is no room for excuses, or disappointment. They don’t give up because the fail –  they are agile on finding a way to a new path.

  • Hanging With the Right Crowd

You’ve certainly heard many times that you’ll become like those whom you spend your most time with, it’s not a statement, it’s a fact. Persistent people always spend their time with people who have dreams of their own and a clear vision of what they want. So surround yourself with people who have goals and dreams to increase your persistence in following your own dreams.
