Introduce yourself.
I’m Isabell Berg, a student in EBS High School who is actively engaged with photography and filmmaking which includes filming and editing, also known as videography.
What got you interested in filmmaking and photography?
My interest started quite early, because I found that things that are beautiful and experiences that are special must somehow be saved so that you could experience them again through pictures or video.
It was about 3-4 years ago when I first edited a video and it was purely done as an exercise. Photography had been my hobby before that. I liked to photograph everything that caught my attention by being somehow special. After some time I found that filmmaking is more exciting and defiant for me. One of my goals is also to motivate others to do things that they are interested in and not to leave dreams remain just dreams.
What projects have been your biggest ones?
I’d say that I haven’t had any noticeably big projects, but past music videos have needed the most planning and effort. Most of my own videos have been made in my own style and I’ve been given free hands and I was able to be creative. The biggest projects have probably been Suur Papa’s music video called “A.V.R” and Beebilõust’s “Nokturna”.
Do you have any projects going on right now?
Yes, there are a couple of projects. For example, a campaign video for Hennessy in collaboration with Pirados Brand that took 3 days to film which included the official after party in Sinilind. Also a promotional video for OnWheels with Roomet Säälik who at the moment is one of the best Estonian scooter and BMX rider in his age bracket. Last but not least, I’m also working on a video of Baltic Session which took place in Nordea concert hall.
Do you see yourself working on this profession in the future?
Yes, for sure, no question about it. Filmmaking and photography have been my passions for several years and given me memorable experiences. Doing something that you love the most and earning money while doing it is truly a blessing. I haven’t even thought about doing anything else. I’m planning on continuing my studies in Baltic Film and Media School after finishing high school.
Whether and how has studying in EBS influenced you and your hobbies?
It’s not easy to concentrate on just working while you’re still in school. School comes first and then other things, but I’ve tried to make them work with each other. My life has since got busier, but I’m the kind of person who can’t sit around. I always need to do something. I give my best so that my filmmaking wouldn’t stop and everything related to school would be good.
Do you have any words to live by?
As I previously said, if you have anything that you’re interested in then you have to get yourself together and just do it. Otherwise your dreams will just be dreams and you will regret not doing anything when you had the chance. Find inspiration, motivation, communicate with the best in the field and always give your best.
