- Say a few words about yourself.
My name is Gaëtan, I’m 22 years old and I come from Reims, a city in the North East of France, famous for producing Champagne.
- Tell us why Estonia was your first choice of destination for your Erasmus?
Oddly enough, Estonia has been a country where I have wanted to go for a very long time. In my childhood, sometimes I talked about this country because I liked speaking about things that we are not used to speak. So when I had to do a choice for my Erasmus, I remembered that I used to speak about this country in my childhood and I discovered a lot of advantages of coming to this country. Also, from Estonia you can easily travel to other interesting countries around it so that’s one of the reasons why I chose this country.
- What is the craziest thing you did here?
Answer to this interview (joke). No, to be honest, I think it was in Lapland when we went to a frozen swimming pool (1 degree) just after the sauna.
- At the moment, which travel did you enjoy the most? Why?
Except Helsinki, I really enjoyed all the travels I did. But without any doubts, I think it was Stockholm. It was really incredible; I think it is maybe the best capital I’ve ever visited. The mix between the old town, colored facades, the river and the good atmosphere in the city gave it an incredible charm.
- Which country would you like to conquer? Why?
I would like to go to Uruguay, Argentina or Chile because I feel like discovering another continent (culture) and I prefer speaking Spanish more than English.
- Which expression represents you?
I think a famous expression in Latin, “Carpe Diem” from Horace fits the best. It means that you have to live it up to each moment without thinking about the next days.
- Who did you want to be when you were a child?
When I was child I wanted to be like my father. But finally, in a professional context it’s not all the case because he’s an engineer like my 2 big brothers and I’m studying in a business school to work in human resources.
- What is the most useless purchase you have ever made?
Before going to Estonia I bought some sunscreen…. I think I will never use it ahah.
- If you won 1 million euros, what would you do with it?
I will not be really original but If I won 1 million I think I would give one part to my family, one part to a charity against Cancer and I would keep one part for me to invest in trendy countries (why not in Estonia) and to travel.
- A word to live by?
It’s funny because during my schooling I didn’t think that I would do an Erasmus, to be honest I hadn’t really any expectations about my exchange, on the contrary I had some fears but finally it’s really incredible and amazing experience that every student should get. Therefore I think that when you’re in Erasmus you shouldn’t to complain, the life could be more difficult than the life in Erasmus. So enjoy!!
