Meet Me Monday: Liisa Maide

  1. Introduce yourself shortly.

Hey! I’m Liisa. I study languages and business management in EBS and this year I’m also the head of EBS student council.

  1. Tell us about your Erasmus life and your travels around the world.

I spent my Erasmus year in the beautiful Vienna. The experiences and people who I was surrounded by are unforgettable and I would like to tell everyone who are still doubting if they should go or not, definitely go! Go there, enjoy and then come back – more courageous and open than before. I also wrote an article for EBSter about my time in Vienna which gives you a more detailed overview of my experiences (http://ebster.ee/en/exchange/outgoing-students/exchange-101-vienna-university-of-economics-and-business/) . If we talk about the most memorable trips, then one of them is definitely the time I lived in Ecuador and when me and my friends went to the Galapagos island. We spent five amazing days yachting on the Pacific Ocean, snorkeling and hiking in the daytime and dancing under the stars in the nighttime.

  1. Tell us three facts about yourself.

I graduated Tallinna Muusikakool, majoring in violin.

I don’t eat cucumbers.

One of my hobbies alongside others is snowboarding.

  1. Describe your experience in the student council and what does it mean to be the president this year?

I have been a part of the EBS Student Council since my first year in the university. There have been many tasks that I have had to do in the Student Council – from constructing furniture to building a new structure for the Student Council. I have gotten friends for life from here and I believe this whole experience has changed me into who I am today. I wish to make the Student Council even stronger and to bring our activities closer to every EBS student this year as the president.

  1. What are you afraid of?

Birds, darkness and tickles. 🙂

  1. What’s the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?

While I was in Ecuador, I was often asked where exactly the US state called Estonia is located.

  1. If you could magically learn two languages in a minute, which ones would you choose and why?

For the first pick I would definitely choose German, because I need to take the language exam to finish the school. 🙂 My second pick would be French, because it sounds lovely, doesn’t it?

  1. You can invite three people to dinner, living or dead. Who do you invite?

To the dinner I would invite one very dear person to me – my late grandfather.

  1. What are your plans for the future after you graduate?

There are many plans. I would definitely want to go to Africa as a volunteer for a couple of months, backpack hiking to Asia and walk the path of Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage.

  1. Your favorite quote.

“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”
