Meet Me Monday: Jürgen Jürgenson
  1. Introduce yourself shortly.

I am Jürgen Jürgenson (@jyrgenjyrgenson) from Tartu. Hyper-energetic and ambitious guy who seeks opportunities from every corner. I love helping people to go beyond their limits.

  1. Three facts about yourself.
  • 204 cm tall
  • Adrenaline junkie
  • Sometime I drink 18 cups of coffee a day
  1. What do you like the most in EBS?

People! Guys are like lions who are hungry to succeed. And girls…. are just freaking beautiful…. and…. smart. Teachers are not typical UNI teachers, they have a lot of practical experience to share with us. And of course “networking” events.

  1. Tell us about your experiences with startups?

I have been really active in the startup community since 2015. This was year when I started building up Pürg from scratch and we sold the company in summer 2017. During that time, we applied to compete in the biggest business competition in Estonia called “Ajujaht”. From among 304 ideas, we were in the TOP7 to reach the final that was broadcasted on the national television. During that time we become 2nd best student company in Estonia and won several team prizes. After that we entered the Swedish market and were chosen to TOP12 Nordic brands.
Now I am mentoring other startups/student firms and I’m running a creative agency Siil. Our main focus with the agency is to help other businesses with branding and marketing. We are also creating a digital tool and founding a new startup in Spain, which I currently can’t talk about.

  1. What’s the best and the worst thing about having your own business?

Being a start-upper or early stage entrepreneur is like living in a computer game where you are like a firefighter. You have a fire extinguisher and you have to put down fires. You either love it or not.

  1. Would you consider living abroad? If yes which country would be on top of your list and why?

Yes I am considering living abroad. Estonians have this saying that” there is no bad weather, but bad clothes” but for me the sun and a sunny weather is like a drug that gives that extra kick.
Right now it is Spain (Andalusia region), because of the weather, sea and food.

  1. If you could have any superpower which one would you choose?

Teleportation. I would like to move faster, to meet more people, to experience more things.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I can see that I am entering to public sector to lead Estonia. Preparing to become The President of Estonia…. I’m not kidding 😉

  1. Your personal advice to those who want to start their own business.

Become friends with the question “WHY?”. WHY are you going to start a business? Do you want to get rich or famous? Do you want to make your momma proud? Do you want to influence people? Is the timing right?

Lower your ego and get real feedback for your idea. Think through all questions related to your company as fast as possible. Be ready to fail and when you fail, fail forward.

  1. Your favorite quote.

“The most dangerous thing in life is to play it safe” – Casey Neistat
