Meet The New Editor in Chief Monday: Britta Arrak
  1. Introduce yourself shortly.

My name is Britta, I’m 19 years old and I come from a small borough near Kuusalu. I love dancing, writing and reading. I love to listen to music and dream. Often enough, I find myself in a pink world full of bubbling ice cream volcanoes and flying marshmallows. Full of life and unique would be the words to describe me.

  1. Three facts about you that people won’t be able to guess when they first meet you.
  •      I love reading a lot of romantic novels.
  •      I was born to dance
  •      When it comes to me, laughter and tears go hand in hand
  1.   As you now are the new editor in chief of The Ebster, what are your main goals for this upcoming year?

My main goal is to do as great of a job as Liisa-Maria and Laura-Liisa have done before me.

  1.   How would you advise people who find writing difficult? Where to find inspiration?

Write the way that would be interesting to you and that you yourself would like to read it as well.

I get inspiration from talking to my schoolmates and from a want to share new and interesting things with others as well as from inspiring and educational magazines and blogs.

  1.   How has studying at EBS influenced your life the most?

EBS has brought a love for school to my life. I really like going to school. I would’ve never thought I’d say that, but it’s true. In addition to that, I’ve met a lot of new, joyful and ambitious people. In only one year I have managed to meet a lot of successful people and visited companies founded by fellow ebsters. I can’t wait for what’s more to come!

  1.   You are a dancer, right? Tell us more about your hobby and how it all started!

Dancing is where my happiness lies. I love expressing myself to music. The energy I get from dancing always leaves me with a great and positive emotion. When on stage, the emotions are high and I’m full of adrenaline – the energy is just waiting to pour out of me. It’s an amazing feeling that’s hard to put into words. I express myself through dancing. I show people how much I love to do it and enjoy myself to the fullest.

I have learnt show dancing, hip-hop, Latin dances, Russian-gypsy dancing and ballroom dancing. For the past four years I have been doing Estonian folk dancing at my home place Kuusalu. In the autumn of last year, I started with a completely new style for me called spicy hip-hop. Of course, my heart has been won over by the fiery Spanish flamenco that I’ve been learning for nine years and I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon.

It all began already in the kindergarten though.

  1.   Describe a perfect scenario of your dream vacation!

There’s a small house by the sea. It’s a pleasant summer morning – it has just turned 6.24am. A light breeze is moving the curtains and ruffling my hair. The sun is still rising, you can hear birds chirping outside and the nature is just waking up from sweet dreams. The sea is calm, water so still it calls for a swim. Of course, I’ll take a dip in the refreshing water and after that I’ll make some tea and read my favourite romantic novel in the hammock that’s in the shade of the trees.

  1.   If you could have any kind of superpower, what would it be?

I wish I could solve everyone’s problems and make them smile.

  1.   A quote to live by?

‘‘If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree.’’
